Navigating you through summer vacation: Summer vacation can be very stressful when you and the other parent can't agree on vacation dates. One question in particular is, what does it mean when you have a week of vacation? One week is seven (7) consecutive days. Whether the days starts on you your normal weekend, depends on the language in the agreement or court order. In one instance, if you get the children on a Friday night, you would take your seven (7) consecutive days starting on that Friday night. In other instances, you could start your seven (7) days after the end of your weekend. Vacations do supersede the regular access schedule. When entering into agreements, make sure you are clear on this issue. If the Court sets the vacation schedule, make sure you ask the questions.

Navigating you a cohabitation agreement: What is a cohabitation agreement? This is an agreement between two individuals that choose to live together outside of marriage. For example, if you and your significant other decide to purchase a home together, you can draft an agreement as to what will happen to the property should part ways. It is similar to a prenuptial agreement, but does not necessarily anticipate marriage. Contact our office if you have additional questions.

Navigating you through Joint Legal Custody with Tie-Breaker Authority: Joint legal custody with tie-breaking authority does NOT mean that the parent with tie-breaking authority can just make the final decision after an initial disagreement. The parent without tie-breaking authority has the right to argue his/her/their position prior to a final decision. If you are dealing with a parent that is making decisions without discussion, please contact our office for a consultation.

Navigating you through modification of custody: In Maryland, changing a previously issued parenting time order requires, first, a material change in circumstances. A material change in circumstances contemplates something significant. Courts have previously declared a child getting older, for example, is not considered a material change under the law. If you have further questions about what constitutes a change in circumstance, please contact our office for a consultation.

Our Story

My goal is to provide personal service to my clients by being actively involved in all aspects of their cases. I know that every client faces a unique set of circumstances and will need a specific approach to achieve the results that he or she requires. My firm begins each case by providing a flat-fee consultation. I can answer your legal questions during this time to help you know what to expect. At this point, I carefully assess the case and decide whether to enter a legal agreement or litigation. For your own understanding, I will also provide you with a general overview of the court process.
