More than half of all Houston homeowners pay HOA fees โ€” and right now those fees run anywhere from $100 to $500 a month depending on where you live. The Paint Touch-Up Mistake That's Costing Houston Sellers Before They Even List

Most sellers think grabbing the leftover paint from the garage is good enough. It's not โ€” and it can actually make things worse.

Paint fades over time. Even the same color looks different after a few years on the wall. So when you dab it on a scuff, instead of fixing one problem you create two. Buyers don't always know why something feels off. They just know it does. And that feeling affects offers.

Here's what actually works: test the paint in a hidden spot first and let it dry completely before touching anything. Match the sheen, not just the color โ€” flat and eggshell are not interchangeable. Feather your edges so there's no hard line. And here in Houston, do your touch-ups with the A/C running. Humidity affects how paint dries and cures, and we see it affect color consistency more than most sellers expect.
