Elon Musk has once again highlighted Teslaโ€™s ambitious autonomous driving roadmap, stating that by 2026, drivers may be able to fall asleep in their vehicles and wake up at their destination. The claim points toward Teslaโ€™s planned rollout of Unsupervised Full Self Driving, a system designed to operate without human intervention under approved conditions. Unlike todayโ€™s FSD Supervised feature, which still requires driver attention, the future version aims to handle navigation, traffic decisions, and complex urban environments entirely on its own. Tesla has been rapidly advancing its AI-based driving stack through neural network training and real-world data collected from millions of vehicles globally. Musk believes that once regulatory approvals align with technological readiness, Tesla cars could function more like autonomous transportation pods rather than traditional driver-controlled vehicles.

Tesla has revealed new aerodynamic details of the upcoming Model Y L, highlighting how design improvements are enhancing both efficiency and passenger comfort. The extended-wheelbase SUV features a redesigned rear spoiler capable of generating around 100 kg of downforce, helping improve stability at higher speeds while also integrating the rear brake light directly into the spoiler structure. Despite its larger size, the Model Y L is reportedly 2% more efficient than the standard Model Y and about 15% more efficient than the Model X, showing Teslaโ€™s continued focus on aerodynamic optimization. With a drag coefficient of 0.216, the Model Y L now sits among Teslaโ€™s most aerodynamic vehicles, close to the Model S (0.208) and ahead of the Model X (0.25) and Cybertruck (0.34).

Teslaโ€™s electric drivetrain highlights one of the biggest advantages EVs hold over traditional internal combustion vehicles. While a typical gasoline engine contains more than 1,000 moving parts, Teslaโ€™s electric powertrain operates with roughly 20 major moving components. This dramatic reduction in mechanical complexity eliminates many common failure points such as pistons, valves, fuel systems, transmissions, and exhaust components. Fewer moving parts translate into lower maintenance needs, reduced repair costs, and improved long-term reliability for owners. The simplified design also improves efficiency and durability, helping explain why many Tesla vehicles require minimal servicing compared to conventional cars, reinforcing the broader industry shift toward electric mobility.

Teslaโ€™s long-wheelbase Model Y L has officially been approved for sale in Australia, marking a major step toward expanding the larger six-seat electric SUV beyond China. Regulatory documents now list the Model Y L variant under approved vehicle types, confirming Teslaโ€™s plans to introduce the extended-wheelbase version to new markets. The Model Y L features a longer body and three-row seating layout, offering space for up to six passengers while maintaining the efficiency and performance of Teslaโ€™s popular crossover. The vehicle is currently produced at Gigafactory Shanghai and has been available only in China so far, but approvals in Australia suggest a broader international rollout is approaching.
