Buying a house this Spring? You may not be protected against defects in your chain of title. “Title insurance” will often exclude from coverage any defects that the insurance company finds.

In other words, the title insurance companies make exceptions to avoid protecting you from the very risks you would think the policy is insuring against.

So read the Title Binder before you close the sale, or have a lawyer review it for you.

To follow up on our last post about uninsured / underinsured motorist insurance, you need to know exactly what you are buying! This type of insurance reduces by the amount of money collected from the other side.

For example if you buy a $50,000 uninsured/underinsured policy, you may think that you have a safety net of $50,000. Say you get and an accident with a driver who has $25,000 of insurance and you have $75,000 worth of injuries. It seems like you are covered, but you’re not!

You can only collect the full $50,000 from your insurance company if the other driver does not have any insurance at all. If the other side has $25,000 worth of insurance, your policy is reduced by that $25,000.

Therefore in this case, you can only collect a total of $50,000 ($25,000 from the other side and $25,000 from your own insurance). That leaves you hanging out to dry for $25,000 worth of your injuries!

Remember, uninsured / underinsured motorist insurance is the cheapest type of insurance and it protects against the worst case scenario, being left without compensation for your injuries, medical bills, and lost wages. Make sure you have it and know what you are buying so you can get plenty of it!

If you are injured in an accident, McGlone Law is here to fight for you. Call (812)234-4000 for your free consultation.

‼️WARNING‼️
Your holiday celebration could lead to jail time EVEN IF you act responsibly and do not drive while under the influence.

Indiana recently passed a law that could land you in prison for 2-12 years. If you cause an auto accident that results in death and have any trace of an illegal drug in your blood (including ma*****na), you are guilty EVEN IF you are not under the influence of the drug at the time of the accident.

For example, you could go to a New Year’s Eve party in Illinois and smoke some ma*****na, where it is completely legal. Then 2 weeks later you are driving in Indiana completely sober and unimpaired when you make a simple mistake that causes an accident and unfortunately results in death. You could go to prison for up to 12 years because you have traces of ma*****na in your blood, which last for up to 30 days, even though the ma*****na does not affect a person’s senses longer than 1 day and did nothing to cause the accident.

Please be aware of this and protect yourself. Please share. If you are injured in an accident McGlone Law is here to protect your rights and fight for the compensation you deserve.

Each holiday season brings a surge in demand for deliveries, and for many companies this results in hiring temporary or contract drivers to supplement their internal capacity. The holidays can see more accidents because of lack of sufficient training, driver fatigue, poor vehicle maintenance, and seasonal road congestion. Read more on our blog:

Discover why holiday driving is more dangerous: increased travel, icy roads, and more lead to a spike in accidents during Christmas and New Year’s.
