The Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024 beginning on Broadway at 1 PM.

Please join us as we honor our fallen heroes who died while in service to our country.

FEDERAL RELIEF FOR OUR FAVE RESTAURANTS AND BARS
The $1.9 trillion COVID relief package (AKA The American Rescue Plan of 20219 signed into law by the President on March 11, 2021, created the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and provides some significant relief for those in the dining and wining business!
The SBA will administer this portion of the new law. The segment that applies to restaurants and bars is pretty expansive. The Feds set aside almost $30 Billion in relief GRANTS to help small and midsized establishments. (like YOU!)
Eligible restaurants may receive a tax-free federal grant equal to the amount of its pandemic-related revenue loss (reduced by any amounts received from PPP first and second draw loans in 2020 and 2021). The cap per business is f $10Mil.. so this is REAL, meaningful funds set aside to those in the restaurant industry that we all know and love!!
Eligible??? Restaurants; food stands; food trucks; food carts; caterers; saloons; inns; taverns; bars; lounges; brewpubs; tasting rooms; taprooms; licensed facilities or premises of a beverage alcohol producer where the public may taste, sample or purchase products; or other similar places of business where patrons go for the primary purpose of being served food or drink.

Business Interruption Insurance Update: Many Business Owners have this sort of insurance.. it is a good time to dust it off and have it looked at. If you do, you are likely to find reading it similar to a root canal, giving birth, or having a kidney stone... It need not be, let me help! I just reviewed two policies for a client. The Policies have expected exclusions and limitations for Physical Damage and Property Loss, but also a Virus and Bacteria Exclusion. The policies also have definitions, which included a "money and securities" definition... in these policies, those terms are defined by using the word "property." To that end, a business in such a situation has the ability to argue that monies lost as a result of the Pandemic are in fact insured and recoverable. Speaking of "Pandemic" when one reviews that Virus exclusion language, the words epidemic, or pandemic are nowhere to be found. Since insurers rely on such specific interpretation of their own adhesion contracts, I would argue that they did NOT inlcude Pandemic in the exclusions, because such losses are in fact, COVERED CLAIMS. In short, if your business has suffered property loss and/or physical damage as a result of this Pandemic, (NOT virus), you may qualify for insurance coverage......... Just sayin; ........ COVID-19 has impacted everyone of my business clients. I previously posted about a client seeking to be included as an essential business because it was providing a vital product to a true essential service. Today, I had another client speak about opening up operations a little. Any business should take a look at the Wrongful Death lawsuit just filed in Chicago against Walmart by a former employee. The suit, in part states that the Company did not take proper safeguards, did not educate and inform staff. It is sad fact pattern and situation, for sure, A filed suit, does not necessarily equate to legal success, but it is another factor that business owners should consider when pondering what to do with their businesses.
