When disaster strikes without warning, family members may not always be in the same place. Completing a Family Emergency Plan with specific information will help during the chaos and confusion.

🚩Provide copies of this plan to all family members and keep where it is visible in your home.

📝The plan should include:

📞Contact List: Communication through cell phone may be difficult after a disaster.

📍Meeting Point: a location where you whole family knows and can meet.

🚗Evacuation Route: more than one route is optimal as there could be issues with one route.

VEAR - Village Emergency Assistance Registry

The Village of Ruidoso has a Voluntary Registry for individuals who may need assistance in an emergency.

Who should register?
- People with disabilities.
- Medically fragile people.
- People with limited mobility.
- People who have communication barriers.
- People who require transportation assistance.
- People who require personal care assistance.
- People who require additional medical assistance during an emergency event.

In New Mexico, the Affidavit of Surviving Spouse is a legal document that serves as a tool for surviving spouses, facilitating the transfer of property and easing the burden of estate management during a difficult time. There are specific requirements.
