We are proud to share an important milestone in our firm’s history.

After 33 years of representing employees, Sass Law Firm is now Sass, Everhart & Silva, P.A.

This change reflects the strength and growth of our team. Yvette D. Everhart and Adria Lynn Silva are now named partners, and Jo Ann Palchak has been elevated to partner, leading our White Collar Criminal Defense practice.

While our name has evolved, our commitment, mission and team has not. For over three decades, we have stood up for employees facing discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace injustices, and that work remains at the core of everything we do.

With expanded capabilities in employment law, Title IX and education law, and white collar criminal defense, we are positioned to serve more individuals who need experienced and trusted counsel.

We are grateful for the colleagues and referral partners who have been part of our journey and look forward to continuing that work together.

A jury awarded full damages to a public whistleblower.

An appellate court took part of it away.

In Miami-Dade County v. Garavan, Florida’s Third DCA ruled that public employees cannot recover emotional distress damages under Florida’s public whistleblower law, joining another appellate court that also came to the same conclusion.

The result?
Public employees have fewer protections than private-sector workers.

🚨 Pregnant Workers Fairness Act: 2025 in Review

EEOC enforcement of the PWFA surged in 2025. Employers faced lawsuits for denying pregnancy accommodations, forcing unpaid leave, and terminating workers after accommodation requests. Such enforcement is a glimpse of how the EEOC views PWFA violations.

If you’re a Florida employee or employer, this law matters more than ever.
