Sometimes the law moves so slow, that it seems frozen in time. ❄️

Court schedules, filings, and negotiations don’t always move as fast as we’d like. But steady progress matters more than rushed decisions.

One step at a time.

ChatGPT believes everything your client tells you.

It doesn’t question the facts.
It doesn’t sense exaggeration.
It doesn’t know what’s missing.

If the information going in is wrong, the argument coming out will be wrong, just prettier.

In family law, facts matter.
Payments. Dates. Orders. Communications.

AI is a powerful tool.
But your judgment is the safeguard.

Use it for speed.
Verify for accuracy.

Throwback to one of my early ’80s jobs: busboy at a Greek seafood restaurant on Long Island. If my memory serves me, it was called Rudy’s.

Sweeping floors. Clearing plates. Hustling nonstop.

But every night, there was a reward. When we closed, the owner would let us raid the freezer, fill a fryer basket with anything we could carry, and cook it up.

Scallops. Shrimp. Calamari. All the good stuff.

We’d sit there after a long shift, tired and full, eating like champions.

Consistency matters.
Especially for children.

Kids thrive on routines:
Bedtime.
School mornings.
Meals.
Homework.
Activities.

A predictable schedule gives them security, confidence, and stability.

And in family court, that matters.

When judges look at custody and timesharing, they pay close attention to:
Who keeps the child on a routine
Who gets them to school on time
Who handles homework and bedtime
Who provides day-to-day structure

It’s not about being “perfect.”
It’s about being reliable.

If you’re going through a custody case, remember—your daily habits tell a story.

Make sure it’s the right one.

ChatGPT doesn’t actually “know” the law.

It doesn’t think, reason, or understand statutes the way you do. What it does is predict the most statistically likely next word based on millions of examples of human writing.

So when it gives you a beautifully written motion or argument, it’s not “researching.” It’s guessing, very well.

That means:
👉 Sometimes it’s right.
👉 Sometimes it’s confidently wrong.
👉 And it won’t warn you when it’s guessing.

In legal terms:
It can sound like a seasoned appellate clerk, while quietly inventing a case that never existed.
