There has and never will be "Gun Control" that will protect the innocent. But we can " Control" access to the innocent. The BECCA Score does this.

The focus shouldn't be about "Gun Control" but controlling access to certain naïve and innocent places, institutions and facilities that need protection such as our; Public Schools and Public places where large congregating of individuals take place.

The Gov't created the "Black Laws" after setting the Blacks free from Slavery. These laws denied "Blacks" the right to own or carry a gun. Even today the gun laws are racially motivated.

In 2011 50% of deaths by guns were by Su***de. The other 50% are divided as follows; 2/3 were gang on gang leaving the remaining 1/3 as homicides. (Stats from Gov't 2011 deaths by gun violence)

My hope is one day we can outwardly display our sadness of loosing one to Su***de. They are really the forgotten souls. I see posts about others who have died by the hand of someone else, or parents dealing with a child suffering from a terrible disease.
But I never see a post about someone's family member or friend who has died by Su***de.

As a mother who has lost a child to this devastating silent serial killer, my grief is compounded by friends, family members and society as a whole, when the loss is not discussed or acknowledged in a public forum.

We tell the depressed to discuss their feelings, but they see how su***de is not acknowledged by the media, friends, family and social networking. If we were to discuss openly the losses by su***de this wouldn't be a way of glorifying their actions. It would be an action of empathy and compassion for those left behind.

Until that happens this silent serial killer will run rampant and will take residence in those who are suffering in silence. It will continue to tell them they are invisible and no one cares.

And those who are suffering will still go forward with the act knowing, even after death their voices will still be silenced.

That is what haunts me.

Mental Illness - Baker Acted -Seized Fi****ms

This is part of the Mental Health Act, I would like to amend.

Please provide any comments.

When a person is being committed either voluntarily or involuntarily for a 72 hour Baker Act, Law Enforcement may seize all and any fi****ms owned by the individual or in possession of the individual at the time of the commitment. The seized fi****ms owned by the individual cannot be released back to the individual without a signed waiver from a board certified physician or psychiatrist in the state of Florida certifying the individuals mental illness is under control and is not a danger to themselves or others. The other fi****ms that were seized but are not owned by the individual, can be released back to the registered owner if, the registered gun owner has a valid concealed weapons permit, and passes a background check along with no prior mental illness history. If the registered gun owner has been diagnosed with a mental illness after obtaining his concealed weapons permit, the registered gun owners concealed weapons permit will be suspended, all the fi****ms that were seized will be stored and that registered gun owner will have to obtain the same certification from a board certified physician or psychiatrist in Florida as the individual who was Baker Acted. The registered gun owner will have to provide proof within one year to the court, that he/she is being treated, in order to keep the registered owners fi****ms in storage. The registered gun owner will have to submit to the court once a year but no more than 5 years the same certification. The registered gun owner may at anytime, sign a release waiver to abandon the fi****ms in leu of payment. The payment for the said fi****ms will depend on what that City of County has designated in their budget. If the registered owner does not file either a release certified by a physician or a provide proof of on going treatment by a board certified license physician or psychiatrist of Florida all fi****ms that were seized will be destroyed after one calendar year of storage time.

The elements of this tragedy sounds familiar to the events that led to my daughters death, classified as a Su***de. The Police Chief of Oviedo was not very enthusiastic to get to the truth, nor wereseveral other agencies including the FDLE. At least the FDLE looked into this one. My daughters death has been erased from all media and newsprint. You cannot find it anywhere!

It is much easier for people to believe that one committed su***de, than entertaining the notion that those Police Officers may have been more involved with the death. Su***de has become the dumping ground for unexplained deaths when Police are involved. And the Police know that media sources wont give it air time or print space which only perpetuates the continuation and limitation for accountability by Police.

Someone needs to speak for all of those souls who cannot speak for themselves. Their lives meant something and should not be forgotten or swept under the rug, as if they were never here.
