What is the purpose of Parent Coordination?

According to Florida Statute 61.125:

The purpose of parenting coordination is to provide a child-focused alternative dispute resolution process whereby a parenting coordinator assists the parents in creating or implementing a parenting plan by facilitating the resolution of disputes between the parents by providing education, making recommendations, and, with the prior approval of the parents and the court, making limited decisions within the scope of the court’s order of referral.

This is an unprecedented time of uncertainty and concern. Conflicts in co-parenting and ineffective communication about issues related to children are stressful under normal circumstances. This crisis situation will certainly exacerbate existing conflicts and can cause disruption in otherwise effective co-parenting relationships. Access to the court system and immediate relief through normal legal means may not be available, however, the sooner solutions are explored and understandings reached the better for all involved, especially the children.

I've created this page to offer reduced rate Crisis Parent Coordination sessions to assist parents with their communication and facilitate cooperation. I intend to help struggling parents navigate the waters and to make decisions in a practical and reasonable manner in order to provide the safest and most secure environments and schedules for their children during these difficult times.

Virtual Parent Coordination Sessions using Zoom technology will be available through June 1st at a reduced rate of $150.00 per session. Sessions can be scheduled by calling (813) 514-0909 or e-mailing [email protected].

No minimum number of sessions or retainers will be required. Payment will be collected on a per session basis and paid via Law Pay or Venmo. Conflict checks will be conducted in advance of the session and parents will be asked to execute a brief services agreement, primarily to acknowledge limited scope of non-legal parent coordination services.

Night and weekend virtual appointments will be available.

Crisis Parent Coordination services will be offered pursuant to Court Appointment or upon voluntary agreement of the parents to participate in the process. I can assist parents with existing parenting plans and court orders as well as those parents who may not yet have a parenting plan but who have been sharing time with the children without any formal plan.

I am a Qualified Parent Coordinator, Certified Family Mediator and Family Law Attorney. I have been practicing law since 2002. I have always been conflict-resolution oriented and want nothing more than to see thriving happy parents and children. Parent Coordination has been a small and consistent part of my practice that I decided to expand this week with temporarily reduced hourly rates and with the elimination of the need for any up front retainers in light of the current crisis that exists. Effective co-parenting with affordable assistance and intervention is the greatest need I feel that people need to have met at this time.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a parent coordination session. Referrals for parents in need will be greatly appreciated.
