As you consider your vote on Amendment 3, take a moment to look at how much local government budgets have grown over the past 10 years, and then compare that with the things you’re having to put off or do without in your own household.
Over the same period that Florida’s population has grown by an estimated 16% and median wages have increased by roughly 52%, county property tax collections have increased by an average of 99%.
What does that growth mean for you and your family?
The map below shows how property tax collections have changed in each Florida county since 2016. Counties are color-coded by the percentage increase, with increases as high as 176%.
