Congratulations to Jerry Benton on his upcoming retirement after more than 27 years of service to Campus USA Credit Union and more than 40 years in the credit union industry.

As President and CEO, Jerry has helped guide CAMPUS through significant growth while remaining focused on its members, employees and communities. We are grateful for his leadership and the lasting impact he has made on the credit union and the communities it serves.

As Jerry prepares for his next chapter, we’re also pleased to welcome Jeff Thieman as the next President and CEO of Campus USA Credit Union, effective January 1, 2027. Jeff has served as CAMPUS’ Chief Operating Officer since 2014 and brings extensive experience and institutional knowledge to his new role.

Family Savings Credit Union has committed $200,000 over the next 10 years to support financial literacy education for students at Gadsden State Community College through a partnership with the Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation.

Through this partnership, students will have access to financial literacy workshops, one-on-one counseling, digital resources, and educational opportunities focused on budgeting, credit management, responsible borrowing, loan repayment, and long-term financial planning.

Yesterday, the Broward Chapter of Credit Unions and the Florida Credit Union Association (FCUA) hosted their annual Legislative Breakfast at Tropical Financial Credit Union of South Florida.

We welcomed three lawmakers: Senator Dr. Barbara Sharief, House Minority Leader State Representative Christine Hunschofsky, and State Representative Robin Bartleman. More than 30 credit union leaders and professionals representing nearly 400,000 credit union members in Broward County also joined us for a robust conversation about issues on the ballot this November.

Habitat for Humanity recognized seven Bay County credit unions that came together to build a Habitat home during its annual meeting.

Michael Akers, President and CEO of Hello Credit Union, was also presented with the President’s Award of the Gold Hammer and a bedazzled toolbox in recognition of his leadership in coordinating the effort and seeing it through to completion.
