In honor of the original stewards of this land, we wanted to share a few quick facts about the rich history of the Apalachee people:
🌾 Master Agriculturists: The Apalachee developed highly advanced farming systems. Their massive corn, bean, and squash harvests earned the region a reputation as the historical "breadbasket" of the territory.
🏛️ Historical Builders: Their spiritual and political centers featured incredible earthwork structures that remain an important part of our local heritage today at the Lake Jackson Mounds.
💫 A Living Legacy: Despite centuries of forced displacement, the Apalachee survived. Their vibrant culture thrives today through active tribal communities like the Talimali Band of Apalachee Indians.
As a local business, we believe recognition goes hand-in-hand with education. Today, we invite our team, partners, and followers to join us in learning more about the history beneath our feet and supporting Indigenous-led initiatives.
