Duties and Responsibilities
Experienced Legal Assistant for our team with a high-volume case load. Need to be self-motivated and have the ability to work well independently and in a team setting. Must be proficient in records and case management, responding to discovery, and billing time pursuant to guidelines. This is a well-established defense law firm offering a competitive salary, low premium health insurance and 401k.
Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 3 years as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant in civil litigation.
Must be able to prepare and draft discovery requests and responses; manage document productions; prepare and draft pleadings; researching applicable case law when needed; adhere to court rules, statutes and ordinances; assisting in preparation for depositions, mediations, settlement conferences, hearings and trial.
Must be able to manage multiple calendars; meet deadlines, including responding to discovery which is critical for this position,
Must have exceptional organization, communication, and high attention to detail.
Must have knowledge of state and federal court e-filing systems (U.S. District Courts, Pacer, Florida e-Filing, etc.).
Must be able to track and enter billable hours into an electronic billing system.
Candidate should be able to follow instructions, prioritize workload, understand legal concepts and terminology, and work independently.
Must have strong computer skills.
Other administrative tasks such as answering incoming calls, copying, scanning, etc.
