Established in 1952, the Tax Section is the oldest section within The Florida Bar. The Section derives its strength and purpose from three basic tenets or principles:
1) Public Protection. Through our educational activities and commitment to prevent the unauthorized practice of law, the Tax Section strives to protect the public and to assist the public in obtaining the services of a qualified pro
fessional in this extremely complicated and complex area of the law. It is through the activities of the committees within the Section whereby the Section advocates changes to state and federal laws and analyzes and comments upon statutes, regulations, rulings, cases, etc. that we further provide important services to the public.
2) Professionalism. Through the various continuing legal education activities and the board certification program, the Tax Section strives to raise the level of awareness within the general practitioners and raise the level of competency within the Tax Section membership.
3) Service to the Bar. The Tax Section has a specific and historic duty to advise The Florida Bar and The Florida Bar Foundation in its capacity as tax attorneys. The Florida Bar Tax Section provides information and services to its members and to the public.
