Thinking of all the law students sitting for the Florida Bar Exam next week—especially those who’ve already found their calling in elder law.

If you’re feeling exhausted or unsure, that’s okay. You’ve already proven your resilience just by getting here. You’ve read the cases, sat through those monotonous videos, survived the stress—and now you’re stepping into the final stretch.

Whatever happens this week, the elder law community is ready for you. Florida’s seniors, caregivers, and individuals without a voice need you now more than ever. And we can’t wait to welcome you!

You’ve got this. 💙

Have you heard the terms “learning/intellectual” disabilities and “developmental” disabilities before? They’re often used interchangeably but Florida and federal law define them differently? This is important to know when applying for public benefits or accommodations. Thank you to our friends at Independence Landing for this handy explanation about learning disabilities!

It’s Learning Disabilities Awareness Week! 💜

Did you know that 1 in 5 people have some form of a learning disability?

This week is about spreading awareness, breaking down misconceptions, and honoring the unique ways we all learn! 🌟 It’s not about intelligence or effort, it’s about how the brain processes information.

Add this graphic to your story to help others learn more about what a learning disability is and how we can create a more understanding and supportive community! 📚✨

Great news during Mental Health Awareness Month to increase access to care in Florida. As members of the legislative committee of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar, Victoria and Max work each session with lawmakers on bipartisan legislation that benefits all Floridians. Check out some of our earlier posts about the recently signed legislation anti-scammer legislation.

My first bill for this legislative session has been officially signed into law! SB 944 levels the playing field between psychologists and other types of healthcare providers, making it easier for them to accept private insurance.

🌟 **Women’s Equality Day** 🌟

On this Women’s Equality Day, we honor the trailblazing women who have fought for equal rights. At Heuler, Wakeman, Solomon Law Group, PLLC, we’re proud to highlight two of our own leaders who have made significant impacts in our field and beyond.

🔹 **Mary Wakeman** is not only an advocate for seniors but has also been a leader within the Florida Bar. She has tirelessly worked to advance elder law and has been a strong voice for supporting caregivers, ensuring they have the resources and guidance they need.

🔹 **Victoria Heuler** currently serves as the past chair of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar for 2024-2025. She is a respected leader known for her commitment to the rights of caregivers. Her work in estate planning and elder care goes hand-in-hand with her dedication to uplifting those who provide essential care to vulnerable loved ones.

Both Mary and Victoria embody the principles of Women’s Equality Day by leading efforts in advocacy, legal leadership, and supporting caregivers in our community.
