Today is a good day. I finally have in hand the court order dismissing charges against my client.

If you ever serve on a jury and the prosecutor refers to anyone as "The Victim," please keep in mind that the accused could very well be the victim of an overzealous prosecutor. In that case, the accused is forced to spend thousands of dollars, with no prospect of recovering the money and time spent, to demonstrate they are, in fact, innocent.

I do not believe that anyone is perfect, but this is a case where my client was the victim, and in an effort to gain an advantage in child custody, the Complaining Witness filed a false police report, and ultimately charges were filed against my client. My client was adamant all along that he was factually innocent, and we have the evidence to demonstrate that at trial.

He can finally rest easy knowing that this is in the past.

I do some OSSAA eligibility work and have been tracking the case of Glencoe Boys basketball and some athletes that were ruled ineligible.

A couple weeks ago the judge in that case cleared Coach Schubert of any wrongdoing.

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) owes that man an apology. Their lawyers will tell them not to, but spurious allegations that would never see the light of day if basic legal evidence standards were applied have sullied his name.

I do a lot of OSSAA appeals. Sometimes you win them in the room, sometimes you get them on the paperwork… this one was both.

Extracurricular activities meant a lot to me in high school and I love fighting to help kids keep the right to experience school the same way I did.

It’s not my case, but I know and have worked with many of the attorneys involved. I have read the pleadings in the case and talked with many of the folks involved… this is a good start to correcting yet another mistake made by the OSSAA.
