Reflecting back on a busy April 2026 -- our work is critical, we can't do it alone, and partnerships are our superpower! Sharing a few shots from last month so you can follow our journey in the community (clockwise from upper left, VALOR (Veterans Advocacy & Legal Outreach) Program monthly clinic/resource fair at the VA's American Lake campus on April 15 [happens every 3rd Wednesday of the month, 1-4 p.m., Building 9]; selfie opportunity with some of our powerful DV services provider partners attending the April 21 meeting of the Pierce County Council to support designating April 26 as Domestic Violence Awareness Day; joining our partner Eloise's Cooking Pot Food Bank/Making a Difference Foundation at a Wednesday Free Grocery Giveaway at the Tacoma Dome on April 22; helping a walk-in client at a Legal Aid Pop-Up at South Hill Pierce County Library on April 23) -- we have a lot going on! There will be a wide variety of Legal Aid Pop-Ups to choose from during the upcoming week May 11-15! King County pop-ups include the Federal Way (1st Ave), Greenbridge and Skyway King County Library locations, while we'll be all over Pierce County from Key Peninsula to Tacoma to DuPont.

Most of these pop-ups can't provide confidential attorney legal advice, but that also means we are free to use our experience and connections with the civil legal system to talk with anyone about any legal issue and determine next steps and resources that can help you move forward and achieve a successful outcome. All pop-ups are walk-in, first-come-first-served and there is no income screening for eligibility.

Our Housing Justice Project attorneys will be out in the community next week at a variety of locations -- Puyallup, Tacoma, Lakewood and Burien! These Tenants' Rights Clinics are opportunities to address issues you may be having with your landlord such as repairs, habitability, utility shutoffs, etc. You can walk in to these clinics or use the general online intake on our website to contact us and be referred. Please arrive early and bring any documents related to your issue.

When you walk in a paralegal will do an intake with you and screen for income eligibility. If eligible, you will have a 30-minute advice appointment with one of our HJP staff attorneys; if not, we can still provide other resources and information.

IMPORTANT -- if you have a Show Cause hearing date in an eviction case, do not come to these clinics; please go to your hearing and ask to be screened for representation by a Housing Justice Project attorney.
