For any Westhill High School alum who haven't heard - we will soon be the "WESTHILL WOLF PACK." Many of you have objected, believing we should be Warriors forever. But, please, think about changing your position (at least publicly). Today's Westhill students - and athletes - should feel proud of their school and their teams. That will be hard to do if parents and neighbors are constantly voicing opposition. If you can't cheer the Wolf Pack, at least join me in a hearty "Go Westhill!" Foreign students in the US often want to stay in the US after graduation. But how? OPT is available if you find a job with a US company. And H-1B visas are available through a lottery system if your US company is willing to sponsor your application. But, Brad Racino's article in the The Post-Standard points out OPT and H-1Bs aren't available to foreign students who start their own companies. That means the most entrepreneurial foreign alumni of US colleges and universities are prevented from applying their creativity and ingenuity here in the US if they want to start their own companies. Gov. Hochul is taking steps in NY to correct this. But, as Racino points out, it's a problem that can only be solved in Washington, D.C. So, if we want new jobs and innovative technologies to be made here, owned here, and operated here in the US by people we trained and educated here, employers and universities are going to have to step up and speak out. Otherwise, we'll see more and more successful foreign businesses being led by our own alumni.

Foreign student graduates of US colleges often wish to remain in the US. OPT is available if you find a job with a US company; the H-1B lottery system is helpful to some of those who are fortunate enough to have US employers willing to sponsor their applications. Brad Racino's article in Syracuse.com focuses on foreign students who want to start their own company in the US - and the fact that neither OPT or H-1B are available to them. That means some of the most creative, innovative and hard working of foreign students (25% at Syracuse University!) are being prevented from applying their ingenuity here in the US. Gov. Hochul is taking steps to correct this. But, it's a problem with roots in Washington, D.C. So, if we want new jobs and innovative technologies to be made here, owned here, and operated here, by foreigners who were educated here in the US, employers and universities are going to have to step up and speak out. Otherwise, more and more alumni of US colleges will be founding and leading their successful businesses outside the US!

Why can't many of the brightest foreign students in U.S. colleges build their ideas here after graduation?

Tonight my son Clayton Reed fought for me and against cancer. Though he was the winner by unanimous decision, it was cancer - not his opponent Marco - who lost. I am so very proud of his 4 month regimine of training and 20 pound Weight loss. He raised over $28,000 and the event - for one night - raised over $850,000. But more importantly, I am so pleased that Clayton had over 20 co-worked and friends there, supporting HIM. All told Mr what a wonderful man he is. . . . How could any father be any prouder of his son?
PS - The picture of me is with Marco, ‘Cassius Clayton’s’ opponent. He had a huge fan club at the event and all said wonderful things about Clayton. Kudos to him and his supporters!

Well, time to post a reminder - on May 9, four weeks from last night, my son Clayton will be boxing in Boston to raise money to fight cancer. He says he was inspired by my recent tussle with the BIG C, but I have been even more inspired by him. His commitment, to months of training, his willingness to step into a ring and to exchange blows - with another boxer who is equally motivated by a personal cancer story - is awe-inspiring. And his goal of raising $25,000 is equally audacious! Please consider making a contribution for him, for me and for the cause!
