Keefe, Keefe & Unsell is hiring a Full-Time Litigation Assistant.
The position will serve as the primary assistant to attorney Tom Keefe III, supporting complex medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases. It involves significant responsibility in helping manage active litigation from filing through trial. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced
environment, as well as persistent, with a willingness to follow up to keep cases moving.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management
Maintain, organize, and manage electronic and physical litigation files for complex civil cases.
Document Preparation
Assist with drafting, proofreading, and editing pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and subpoenas.
Medical Record Management
Request, organize, and index medical records and billing documents.
Scheduling & Case Coordination
Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, expert witness meetings, and other litigation events.
Communication
Serve as a liaison between attorneys, clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel.
Court Filings
Prepare and electronically file documents in Illinois state and federal courts.
Trial Preparation
Assist with preparation of exhibits, witness materials, and trial binders.
Qualifications:
Experience
1–3+ years working in a law firm, preferably in civil litigation, personal injury, or medical malpractice.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic filing systems and case management software.
Medical Records
Comfort working with medical records and medical terminology.
Professional Skills
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Education
High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation
Salary is negotiable depending on experience, but we pay very well.
