Moore, Johnson & Saraniti Law Firm, P.A. is seeking an experienced and skilled litigation paralegal to join our team. MJS was founded in 2002 by V. Lee Moore on the principles of providing holistic, efficient, and ethical representation to our clients. Now comprised of four attorneys practicing in a wide variety of practice areas, the firm is in need of a paralegal to join its fast-paced and growing litigation practice.
The right candidate will work with our attorneys from the initial client intake call through closure of the case, providing crucial support and ensuring the quality of service we provide to each client lives up to our long-standing reputation.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining contact with clients
Assisting with the preparation, filing and service of pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other court filings.
Assisting with the preparation of correspondence
Scheduling and calendaring hearings, depositions, and mediation
Calendaring and monitoring deadlines
Organizing case files and maintaining pleadings, discovery, and spreadsheets to track information requests
Acting as a liaison among the court, attorneys, mediators, witnesses, and experts
Organizing and managing documents, including the creation of spreadsheets and form document templates
Coordinating the collection, review, and production of documents and responding to discovery requests
Assisting with trial preparation including the assembly of trial and deposition binders, exhibits, witness lists, and court filings
Reviewing and summarizing records
Summarizing deposition and trial transcripts
Researching and gathering relevant information from a variety of sources
Work hours are M-F 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We offer the ability to participate in continuing education seminars, an excellent opportunity for long-term professional growth, and a competitive compensation package.
Necessary Skills & Qualifications:
At least two (2) years work experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant
Firm knowledge of the court system, and legal procedures (e.g., litigation documentation, motions, discovery, and evidence)
Sound understanding of the day-to-day operations of a legal office, preferably in litigation
Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines while juggling multiple assignments at any given time
Expert research and critical-thinking skills
Outstanding attention to detail
Ability to excel under pressure
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Positive and supportive attitude and demeanor
Computer literacy, specifically with Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, paralegal associate’s degree, or other relevant certification or a combination of education and/or experience
Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal briefs (trial and appellate).
Working knowledge and competency with case management software
Compensation Range: $29,000 - $30,000 annual salary (commensurate with experience)
