🎀Summer's Corner is getting its first dedicated fire-rescue and EMS station.

Dorchester County held the ribbon-cutting Monday, October 12th, at 10:00 a.m. at 1405 Clay Field Trail.

Officials said the station will have paid fire and EMS staff on duty every day. This fire station may also improve the area's ISO fire rating. ISO ratings are one factor insurers use to price homeowners policies, so if you own in Summer's Corner, ask your agent whether a new rating applies to your address once it takes effect.

New travel lanes are now open in both directions along a portion of I-26 in Berkeley County, giving drivers three lanes in each direction between mile markers 187 and 194.

Why does a REALTOR care about road construction?

Because transportation is part of your real estate decision.

For buyers considering Summerville, Nexton, Cane Bay, Goose Creek, Ladson, Moncks Corner, and surrounding communities, I don't recommend choosing a home based on mileage alone.

Big changes are coming to Charleston!

The former Pepsi plant has officially sold for $13.5 million, with plans for 300+ apartments and new retail space pending city approval.

Projects like this continue to reshape Charleston’s urban landscape, bringing new housing, businesses, and investment to the area. While redevelopment can create exciting opportunities, it also raises important questions about affordability, traffic, infrastructure, and preserving the character that makes Charleston unique.

Another major piece of Charleston’s Upper Peninsula is preparing for redevelopment. 🏗️

The former Pepsi bottling property at 1450 Meeting Street has sold for $13.5 million to Atlanta-based Catalyst Development Partners, which plans to transform the industrial site into a new mixed-use development.

Current plans include:

🏠 More than 300 market-rate apartments
🛍️ Two one-story retail buildings facing Meeting Street
🏢 A five-story residential building behind the retail space
🌳 New pedestrian areas, landscaping and gathering spaces

Charleston’s Design Review Board granted the project conceptual approval on April 6, but requested additional study of the project’s size and design along Lemon Street, the retail buildings facing Meeting Street and separation between the development and the neighboring cemeteries. More review will be required before construction can move forward.

The sale adds to the rapid transformation of Upper Meeting Street, where former industrial properties are increasingly being replaced by apartments, restaurants, retail, offices and entertainment destinations.
