Summertime means children are out of school and looking for activities. If your children spend any time online gaming or using phone apps, please check their devices regularly without letting them know ahead of time and be on the lookout for suspicious messages from unknown people.

Encourage them to follow these online safety rules:
1. Never share your name, address, the name of your school, or any information about your family.
2. Do not talk to strangers online. Would you randomly talk to a stranger in a department store?
3. Never agree to meet someone in person that you have met online.
4. Do not fill in a profile that asks for your name and address.
5. Do not visit a chat room without an adult’s permission.
6. Do not post photos of yourself without an adult’s permission.
7. Do not stay online if you read or see something that your parents will not like or approve.
8. Do not download or install anything without permission.
9. If you are talking to someone online and they make you feel uncomfortable, remember you do not have to respond. Tell your parents!

ARE YOU CONSIDERING SUMMER CAMP FOR YOUR CHILD?
Here are some questions to ask when considering summer camps for your children:
* Does the program conduct background checks on all employees?
* How does the program handle misbehavior?
* Does the program have a policy in place that prohibits a child from being left alone with a single adult?
* What trainings do staff receive for keeping children safe?
* Does the program have a child protection policy regarding how to report suspected abuse?
