"Fireproof " 🔥 Your Children's Inheritance

Did you know that in Texas you can leave your house to your children or anyone else by executing a Lady Bird Deed also known as a Transfer on Death Deed, without them having to go to probate court and pay an attorney to receive it? (Legend has it that LBJ gave his wife property in this way). Of course, you'll still need a Will as backup to make sure that your other personal property is received by your intended beneficiaries. There are many other types of estate documents that will help you "Fireproof" their inheritance. Talk to an an attorney to see what works best for your family.

Moments in Black History - My father, Dr. Francis Monroe Hammond was a trailblazer in American History and a hero. He was the first African-American Department Head of a majority white institution in the United States. He was a P.h.D and Professor of Philosophy who chaired both the Philosophy and Psychology Departments at Seton Hall University between 1946-1954. This was significant because these departments were an important element of the core curriculum at the university. He was fluent in six language with several doctoral degrees from the Université de Louvain in Belgium and Université Laval in Quebec, Canada. He was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1911 and died in Orange, New Jersey in 1978. His biography is too long to mention here, but I will expand on his life and some of his writings in future posts.

I remember the very day Dr. King gave this speech and feeling really afraid that he would not live to enjoy the rights that he was fighting for. He said I might not get there with you. But his faith and belief in what he was fighting for fueled me as a young kid to become who I am today.

As an attorney my search to make some small impact in this world inspired my children to become attorneys. We honor you Dr. King for your sacrifice and the legacy that you have given us.

Most occur on the ground floor
Burglars typically spend less than one minute to gain entry and less than five minutes inside.

95% of break-ins require some amount of force, so cheaper doors and windows are targeted
