We are looking for a new legal receptionist/secretary to join our law firm, which provides legal services focusing primarily on family law (divorce, child custody, modifications, property division, etc.) matters, criminal defense and juvenile matters. Salary for this full-time position will be based upon the applicant's experience and work history. Medical and dental insurance coverage is also available.
All applicants must have a high school diploma and/or GED certificate, with some college studies or an associate degree being preferred. Applicants must also have strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to work in a team-based environment; and excellent typing skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Office. Applicants must have excellent organizational skills, the ability to integrate into a fast-paced environment, where the abilities to pay attention to detail, exercise good judgment, take initiative and follow through on assigned tasks are required.
The basic responsibilities for this position include greeting clients and visitors; answering and routing incoming calls on a multi-line telephone system; maintaining a professional office environment; using iMac computers, Microsoft Office, scanners, printers and copiers to perform required tasks; document preparation (letters, mailings, etc.), management and organization; and, most importantly, maintaining the attorneys' court settings, mediation dates and client appointments.
Additional responsibilities for this position, based upon the applicant's qualifications and experience (i.e., the applicant has previous paralegal and/or court clerk knowledge), include the legal research and writing of motions, pleadings, subpoenas, etc.; eFiling the same with the Courts and opposing counsel; coordinating client meetings, court appearances, mediations, etc.; and managing client matters in the firm's practice management software system.
