As of March 1, 2024, The McClinton Firm is happy to offer Roommate Agreements!

It's a situation we've seen a LOT while working in the dispossessory court of the Gwinnett County Magistrate Court: You and your roommate have a falling out. Or maybe your roommate loses their job. Whatever the reason, you find yourself struggling to shoulder the majority of or all of your rent each month. What should you do?

If you're not the property owner of the home you rent with your roommate, it can difficult or impossible to have your non-rent paying roommate evicted. Bailey the Cat knew that all the hours at the courthouse would pay off. He knew that keeping conflict resolution services AFFORDABLE for regular people would pay off. He knew that treating people like people and not "the bad guy" or "the good guy" would pay off. He knew that continuing to provide an important service to the community would pay off.

It's common knowledge that the legal assistants and paralegals are the smartest folks in any law office, and it's no different in my office (despite the fact my support staff are four-legged and never answer the phone or respond to e-mails). The support of family and friends is a kind of spiritual nutrition anyway, but mine go above and beyond to remind me.
