I was blessed and honored to be sworn in as the Stockton, IL Chamber of Commerce President Thursday, February 8th. I look forward to working with our new board for 2024!Thank you to all of our board members from 2023- and to Sam VenHuizen for being a terrific Chamber President in 2023!
As an owner of 4 businesses, 1 on Rt 20 ("Artful Exchange" in our own room at Antiques, Etc.), and 3 on Main Street (my law office, our Airbnb and Let Us Out! Escape Rooms), I am one of the business owners working to revitalize our town. Terry McGovern and the McGovern family are owners of several businesses here (Stella's, See It Signs and Apparel, Sweet Alice's, Savvy Scavengers and Beautifully Berkeley), and Terry introduced me to the town's business owners by having me join the Stockton Fireworks Committee the summer after we moved to town. A year later, I was asked to join the Chamber of Commerce board. I am proud of all of our businesses and I know that we can work together to make Stockton a great destination place. There are tourism and arts groups already in place, along with our great museum.
I believe it is the businesses' Chamber. The Chamber's role is to help promote the businesses and organizations' efforts to help our businesses do great and to bring more business and tourism to our wonderful town.
I would love to meet with our local business owners individually so each can tell me any needs they have the Chamber can help with and provide any ideas for things to do to better Stockton. Thanks, business owners! I know you all work hard at what you do and I hope you thrive in 2024!
