In observance of Native American Day, our offices will be closed on Friday, September 25, 2026.

As we pause to honor this day, we reflect on the history, resilience, and vibrant ongoing contributions of Indigenous communities. We are proud to operate within San Joaquin County, the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Yokuts and Plains Miwok peoples. We express our deep gratitude to these original and enduring stewards of the land, rivers, and valley we call home.

Wishing our community a meaningful and reflective Native American Day.

September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, marking the anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution in 1787 and recognizing the importance of citizenship in our community and our country.

For those of us in the legal community, the Constitution is more than a historic document. It is part of the work we do every day—in our courtrooms, our offices, our classrooms, and in service to our community.

Citizenship Day also gives us an opportunity to reflect on the rights and responsibilities we share as citizens. It is a reminder that civic engagement begins with understanding how our government and legal system work and continues through the ways we participate and serve our communities.

This Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, we celebrate the enduring principles of our Constitution and the people who help carry those principles forward every day.

September is also recognized as Constitution Month, providing an opportunity to continue learning about civics, citizenship, and the foundations of our legal system throughout the month.

Don’t miss this opportunity to earn MCLE credit, learn, and connect with legal professionals in a relaxed winery setting!

Join us at Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards this Thursday, September 17th for an MCLE - Not Recognizing PTSD: Moral injuries Can Amount to Bias Against Those Who Served program - presented by the SJCBA Unity Bar & Women Lawyers Sections. The program, moderated by long-time SJCBA member and retired San Joaquin County Court judge, Hon. Barbara Kronlund, together with Justice Eileen Moore, Associate Justice, California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division Three, will explore how biases and trauma (such as PTSD) affect interaction in the courtroom, impact access to justice, and factor into veteran-specific legal issues and mental health diversions.

The MCLE begins promptly at 5:15 PM, followed by a Social Hour. Last day to register is Wednesday, September 16, by 5:00 PM. Details and registration info at sjcbar.org/Sept17MCLE.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed by that day. Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor those we lost and recognize the extraordinary courage of the first responders, military personnel, and everyday Americans who answered the call to help.

The passage of time does not diminish the significance of their stories or the sacrifices made. Their courage continues to remind us of the power of service, resilience, and standing together when it matters most.

On this 25th anniversary, we remember with gratitude, honor with respect, and carry their memory forward.

🚨 DEADLINE EXTENDED! 🚨

Great news for current and future law students! The San Joaquin County Bar Association (SJCBA) Civil Litigation Section has extended the application deadline for the 2026 Civil Litigation Section Scholarship.

You now have until 4:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026, to apply for one of two (2) $1,500 scholarships available to individuals with ties to San Joaquin County pursuing a career in the legal profession.

Who is eligible? Students enrolled at:
• Humphreys Drivon School of Law
• San Joaquin Delta College Pathway to Law Program
• University of the Pacific Legal Advantage Program
• Lincoln Law School (Sacramento)
• University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law
