Schools are supposed to be the safest place a child can be. So what happens when they aren't?
Cardinal Law has filed suit against a Crawford County school district after a five-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a classmate during a P.E. class. School officials reportedly knew the classmate posed a danger to others before it happened. After the assault, the victim spent the rest of the school day in the same classroom as her alleged abuser. No one intervened.
When a school fails the children in its care, civil litigation is how families demand the accountability the system didn't provide. This child missed nearly two months of school. She continues to carry the effects of what happened to her on school grounds, on the school's watch.
If your child has been harmed at school and you believe the district failed in its duty to protect them, Missouri law may give you a path forward. We are here to walk it with you.
