Por el Presidente de los Estados Unidos de América
Una Proclamación
Yo, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Presidente de los Estados Unidos de América, señalo y designo el jueves, día treinta de noviembre de 1933, como Día de Acción de Gracias para todo nuestro pueblo.
Que en ese día, en nuestras iglesias y en nuestros hogares, demos humildes gracias por las bendiciones que Dios Todopoderoso nos ha concedido durante el año que ha pasado.
Que recordemos el valor de aquellos que poblaron un territorio salvaje, la visión de quienes fundaron la Nación, la firmeza de aquellos que en cada generación subsiguiente han luchado por mantener puro el ideal de igualdad de oportunidades y por mantener claro el objetivo de la ayuda mutua tanto en tiempos de prosperidad como en tiempos de adversidad.
Que seamos agradecidos por el paso de los días oscuros; por el nuevo espíritu de dependencia mutua; por la unión más estrecha de todas las partes de nuestra vasta tierra; por la mayor amistad entre empleadores y quienes trabajan; por un conocimiento más claro por parte de todas las naciones de que no buscamos conquistas y solo pedimos compromisos honorables de todos los pueblos para respetar las tierras y los derechos de sus vecinos; por el día más brillante al que podemos llegar buscando la ayuda de Dios en un esfuerzo más desinteresado por mejorar la humanidad.
En testimonio de lo cual he estampado aquí mi firma y he hecho que se coloque el sello de los Estados Unidos.
Hecho en la Ciudad de Washington este día veintiuno de noviembre, en el año de Nuestro Señor mil novecientos treinta y tres, y de la Independencia de los Estados Unidos de América el centésimo quincuagésimo octavo.

Thanksgiving Day- 1933 By the President of the United States of America A Proclamation
I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, President of the United States of America, do set aside and appoint Thursday, the thirtieth day of November 1933, to be a Day of Thanksgiving for all our people.
May we on that day in our churches and in our homes give humble thanks for the blessings bestowed upon us during the year past by Almighty God.
May we recall the courage of those who settled a wilderness, the vision of those who founded the Nation, the steadfastness of those who in every succeeding generation have fought to keep pure the ideal of equality of opportunity and hold clear the goal of mutual help in time of prosperity as in time of adversity.
May we be grateful for the passing of dark days; for the new spirit of dependence one on another; for the closer unity of all parts of our wide land; for the greater friendship between employers and those who toil; for a clearer knowledge by all nations that we seek no conquests and ask only honorable engagements by all people to respect the lands and rights of their neighbors; for the brighter day to which we can win through by seeking the help of God in amore unselfish striving for the bettering of mankind.
