PLEASE BEWARE MORTGAGE MODIFICATION SCAMS!!
At least twice a month, a new client comes to me for help after having been victimized by a so called mortgage modification company. A few tips to help you avoid the scammers: 1. Stay away from out of state companies. Many of these so called services hail from California, and Florida.
They allege that they work with an attorney in your jurisdiction. However, you never meet with, or speak to an attorney. You send your hard earned money and sensitive documents to someone who usually doesn't even submit a mortgage modification application for you. Frequently, the company disappears shortly after your check has been cashed. (2) Beware the
voluminous mail solicitations from modification companies and some unscrupulous legal services. Your name is secured from public records and the literature is usually designed to frighten and intimidate you. Decisions should not be based on panic and fear.
Contact an experienced attorney, familiar with foreclosure defense practice and the mortgage modification process.

Despite the propaganda spread by the Banking Industry, foreclosures of residential properties continues in full force with no apparent end in the foreseeable future.
Many home owners make the critical error of failing to answer a Foreclosure Summons and Complaint that they have been served with by their lender's attorney. Please don't be among them. The results may be severe and irreversible.
