⭐️Ways To Stretch Your Retirement Dollars While Enjoying Your Golden Years⭐️

Retirement is a looming prospect for the baby boomer generation. As more boomers reach retirement age, many find themselves without sufficient savings to maintain their current lifestyles. If that sounds a little too familiar, be sure to read these tips to help you budget wisely and save while still making the most of your golden years.

Seek Alternative Activities
Look for free alternatives to things and activities you enjoy. If you love a particular type of food but eating out is draining your budget, learn to prepare it at home. You'll have a chance to learn a new skill, which is great for keeping the mind active and nimble, while also saving a significant amount of money.
You might also enjoy heading to the library for access to thousands of book titles, both new and old. Since most public libraries are also expanding their digital collections, you might find videos, music, and audiobooks, as well.

Take Advantage of Discounts
Don't be afraid to ask about discounts at stores, restaurants, and hotels. These can add up to significant savings if you plan carefully. Many places extend discounts to seniors, with some age qualifications starting as young as 50. Some even have special senior discount days.
The SeniorList has compiled a comprehensive guide for the best offers and savings. As you look it over, you may notice that several possibilities require an American Association of Retired Persons membership. If you haven't already joined this organization, check it out. It provides a ton of benefits and discounts for less than $20 per year.

Monitor Your Investments
There is a lot of advice about investing during retirement, but no hard and fast rules apply across the board. It makes more sense to find a financial advisor who can guide you through retirement investing and an attorney who can assist you through asset protection. However, if you decide to go it alone, most experts recommend careful monitoring of your assets. It is more challenging to recover from a severe financial loss at this stage of your life than when you were still working.

Supplement Your Income
More and more retirees are remaining in or rejoining the workforce with a part-time job. This serves multiple purposes by supplementing your income and giving you an outlet to share the knowledge you acquired throughout your career. If you don't want to commit to a set schedule, consider striking out as a freelancer. Offering business consulting and grant writing services are both popular freelance roles. Create a profile on an online job board to share information about your rates and turnaround time. Clients can also leave reviews on these sites, so it is a good way for potential customers to get a feel for how you work.

Move To a New Area
Housing costs can vary widely across the country and around the world. If you are currently living in an area where housing prices have skyrocketed, relocation might benefit your retirement plan. Check out the most affordable places to live in the United States and see if any are appealing. If not, consider joining one of the growing expat communities around the world.

You can utilize plenty of ways to stretch your dollars and still enjoy your golden years of retirement. Working with a knowledgeable financial advisor, relocating to a more affordable area, and seeking part-time employment can help maintain income levels. At the same time, using discounts and searching for free alternatives to things you enjoy can make your current income go further.

With the world at our fingertips at the hands of the internet, many have become well versed in an array of skills and knowledge. Through google and YouTube, it is quite possible for a person to become self-sufficient in almost anything. However, there are still some tasks that are best left up to the professionals.
In the article listed below, Forbes.com illustrates the risks involved in drafting your own will. With so many DIY legal documents offered online, one can view this as a less expensive, quicker alternative in protecting their loved ones and assets at their time of death. However, these documents can lead to more stress and anguish on the family should they cause you to spend more time in court. Without an attorney’s guidance, many of these self-drafted wills are virtually useless in the eyes of the court.
This article not only states the importance of hiring the proper legal services when drafting your will but it also provides insight on those who did not do so.

There are many tasks you can and should do yourself, but estate planning is not one of them. You may save a few bucks now by drafting your own will, but it will cost your family in time, aggravation and legal fees far in excess of anything you saved.

During these unprecedented times, mortality is a very real concern, especially for the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. With COVID-19 still posing a threat to the general public, it is vital for those at risk to protect themselves as well as their families in the event of death or illness. By creating an Estate Plan, you are protecting your assets as well as safeguarding any personal wishes.
The article linked below offers some insight on how to go about Estate Planning during the pandemic. For those who are at greater risk of COVID-19, virtual appointments have been made possible with Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order No. 202.14. Law.com notes the advantages and disadvantages of this new procedure. It also provides some information on what a client will need to do during a virtual appointment with an attorney. The introduction of the SECURE Notarization Act has also enabled other states to offer virtual appointments.
In compliance with state rules and regulations, Danna & Associates is now conducting virtual appointments to ensure the safety and health of our clients and staff.

Since the beginning of Covid-19, there have been drastic changes to the world as we know it. Every type of business from grocery stores to courts have been operating in lower capacities, with limited hours and extensive safety regulations. Attached is an in-depth explanation of how the NY court systems are planning to operate, beginning September 2020, as well as what the guidelines are to enter the court and how they are processing documents.

Please be advised that some NY Court buildings were fully shut down during the early stages of the pandemic. Inevitably, this has backed up proceedings by at least a month or more. Most courts are still working at a limited capacity, or have split their staff between working remotely and in the office. Some courts are beginning to hear proceedings, but again, these are under strict health and safety guidelines.

Governor Cuomo has instituted Executive Orders allowing both courts and attorneys to witness signatures, notarize signatures, and even complete certain types of meetings over video chat. This has helped with the time constraints with various documents, but please be aware that these original documents most likely still need to be processed, which typically requires in-person office hours.

Our firm is open, but also operating in compliance with the pandemic regulations. We are open Monday through Friday, 9 AM through 5 PM, with most appointments being taken by phone or video chat. For extenuating circumstances, clients can arrange for an in-person meeting, only in our private lobby, with a mask and social distancing greatly enforced.

We understand that many families are going through a difficult time, whether it be related to the pandemic directly, or unemployment, or any number of consequences we have all been faced with. We can help prepare Estate Planning documents, which can include but are not limited to: Last Will, Living Will & Health Care Proxy, Power of Attorney, Revocable and/or Irrevocable Trust, Supplemental Needs Trust, etc. We are also available to complete Medicaid applications for in home private aides, assisted living facilities, or nursing home stays. Our office also fully handles Estate Administrations and Probates.

As a pandemic looms over the entire globe, fear follows closely in its stead. Naturally, we always worry about our health and safety, but being faced so head on with our own mortality brings this matter to the forefront. Estate Planning has seen a spike since the beginning to Covid-19, as clients rush to their attorneys in efforts of creating all the documents they may need to protect both their assets and their loved ones.

Currently, New York attorneys are allowing to witness Will signings and other Estate Planning documents, and perform notarizations over video chats. Although increased safety measures such as social distancing make creating these documents more difficult, it is certainly not impossible. Governor Cuomo has deemed these types of services essential, as they should be, particularly when the entire world is reeling from untimely deaths.
