In case you missed it!

We have a new firm commercial out! Since our office on 1460 Fairystone Park Hwy happens to be located in what used to be the old BB&T bank building in Stanleytown, VA, this commercial talks about the practice areas we serve and also includes footage of our time-saving drivethru in action.

This feature is excellent for dropping off initial client paperwork as needed in advance of a meeting with the attorney, or picking up drafts of your documents ready for review in advance of a scheduled signing. . , , ,

Why Simple Estates Are Not Simple:

The misconception that 'simple' estates are straightforward is often due to the lack of awareness of the complexities that can arise!

Here are some reasons why simple estates can be more complicated than they appear:

(1) Legal Challenges: Simple estates may still face legal challenges, such as disputes among heirs or issues with property ownership, which can complicate the distribution of assets.

(2) Non-Asset Problems: Simple estates may not cover all aspects of estate planning, such as medical power of attorney or financial arrangements, which can lead to additional complications.

(3) Asset Management: Managing assets can be complex, especially if they are tied together or require different paperwork for each asset.

(4) Probate Process: The probate process can be lengthy and may involve multiple steps, which can add to the perceived complexity of the estate.

Understanding these factors can help individuals recognize the true complexity of their estate planning needs and seek the appropriate legal assistance to navigate these challenges. We can help!

Estate planning tips include wills, trusts, and digital assets. Attorney Kerri Koen shares eight essential steps for protecting your legacy.

If you currently provide care for a child or loved one with special needs (such as mental or physical disabilities), you must have contemplated with concern about what may happen to them when you are no longer able to provide and care for them. The right type of guidance is crucial in planning for the future!

Our law firm can help you properly set up a Special Needs Trust so that government benefit eligibility is preserved while at the same time providing assets that will meet the supplemental needs of the person with a disability (those that go beyond food, shelter, and clothing and the medical and long term supports and services of Medicaid). , , ,
