Rates are 7.4%. Should you wait to buy?

Here’s what the headline leaves out. Around D.C., there are more homes for sale and fewer buyers touring than last year. That means more room to negotiate, and price isn’t the only thing on the table.

Seller concessions can go toward buying down your rate. On a $600K loan, a 2-1 buydown could drop your first-year payment by almost $800 a month, paid for by the seller.
