From now until December 13, my firm, Lotus Law, along with some of our awesome friends, are collecting gently used books for the St. Louis County Justice Center! We are happy to arrange pick up, or you’re welcome to stop by our office at NexCore to drop them off. The books are being collected to benefit the inmates of the Justice Center.

Our parameters are no pornographic, violent, or racist materials (sorry not sorry, 50 Shades of Grey), and hardcovers & magazines are fine!

Lotus Law filed its first federal civil rights lawsuit against Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in our quest for justice for Courtney, a mother who was beaten by her ex-husband and wrongfully arrested by police. Once in police custody, Courtney - clearly battered, concussed, and in need of immediate medical attention - repeatedly requested help from officers & jailers. She was denied help and even told, "Can you even afford to go to the hospital?" As a result, she suffered long-term damage caused by the untreated concussion.

We fight for Courtney and the women who have been wrongfully accused by their abusers and further brutalized by police.

Since this story aired, we are learning that this is a pattern of behavior by Jefferson County Sheriff's Department & victims of domestic violence have been repeatedly wrongfully arrested since at least the 90s.

One day after 5 On Your Side aired our original report on all of this, the St. Louis County prosecutor criminally charged Roesch for previously violating the now-thrown-out protective order.

Moving steps closer to .

Thanks to KSDK News and PJ Randhawa for sharing her story & elevating her voice. We wouldn't have seen the City backpedal as fast on the police report or received confirmation from the Circuit Attorney's Office that they're reopening the investigation without your help!

Thank you all for the support & positive words as we work toward . We're just getting started down the path that the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department & Circuit Attorney's Office failed to travel, but best believe we will reach our destination.

our first week as a solo practitioner was a rollercoaster but no regrets here! the freedom to make my our own schedule, to see my bby at lunch every day, and to work with clients to resolve their legal issues makes everything worth it!
