Yes… Realtors meet strangers in vacant houses. 😅

Today I got a seller lead. The name sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place it (this is when formerly working as a prosecutor’s assistant comes in handy) so I did a little digging before responding.

After verifying public records, I found an extensive criminal history connected to the individual — including multiple first-degree r**e charges in 2024. The property address matched the records.

Needless to say, the lead was immediately reported so it would not continue being distributed to agents.

People see the closing photos, the pretty houses, the “under contract” posts… but they don’t always realize this job can put agents in vulnerable situations fast. Especially women working alone.

So yes:
• We check records
• We watch our surroundings
• We share locations
• We trust our instincts

And honestly? Sometimes your gut deserves a commission too.

To my fellow agents: please stay safe out there.
