Did you make the switch from working at the office to working from home in 2020 and wonder if you’ll be eligible for a home office deduction? You may have qualified for the deduction previous to the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017. But now, if you’re an employee who receives a W-2, even if you work from home full time, the answer is no. People who are self-employed or business owners may qualify if their home office is in a “room or separately identifiable space” used “exclusively and regularly” as their principal place of business or as a place where they meet patients, clients or customers.
