Are Women’s rights, human rights?
A popular topic for interest and discussion today. All of us are all entitled to human rights.
These include the right to live free from violence and discrimination; the right to enjoy the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health; the right to be educated; to own property; right to vote; and right to earn an equal wage, which women still battle in many ways.
Across the globe women and girls still face discrimination on the basis of s*x and gender. Gender inequality disproportionately affects women and girls, such as with domestic abuse and s*xual violence, still lower pay, barriers for equal access to education, inadequate healthcare availability, and limited access to political and policy offices.
Women’s rights movements for many, many years have fought hard to address inequality, advocating the change of laws, taking this message to the general public, in essence demanding their rights to be honored. Newly fashioned movements with changes and careful adaption have grown in this the digital age, such as the campaign. highlights the continued existence of gender-based violence and s*xual harassment.
Through limited survey, research, advocacy and campaigning, Amnesty International has pressured people in power to respect women’s rights, with limited success.
