🌨️ Heads Up, Springfield & Greater Ozarks! Winter Weather Expected Jan. 23–25 🌨️

Springfield and the surrounding area could see cold temperatures, light snow/ice and blustery conditions this weekend into early next week (Jan. 23–25). Forecast models show temperatures dropping into the single digits at night with chances of snow and slick roads in spots — so plan ahead if you’ll be out and about.

❄️ Stay Safe on Ozarks Roads – Winter Driving Tips:
🚗 Slow Down: Snow and ice reduce traction — even small amounts can make stopping difficult.
🚗 Avoid Cruise Control: On slippery roads cruise control can make you lose control.
🚗 Increase Following Distance: Give yourself extra space between vehicles to stop safely.
🚗 Clear Snow/Ice Before Driving: Brush off all windows, mirrors & lights before heading out.
🚗 Brake and Accelerate Gently: Quick inputs can lead to skids on ice or snow.
🚗 Be Prepared: Carry winter essentials — ice scraper, blankets, flashlight, and traction aids — in case of an emergency.

If you don’t need to take a trip, the best option is often to stay off the roads until conditions improve and crews finish clearing.

That’s a wrap on the 16th Annual MATA Coat Drive 🧥❤️

Because of the incredible generosity of our community, we raised $29,450 and collected 108 coats this year to benefit The Kitchen, Inc..

Over the last 16 years, this effort has made a lasting impact—$199,200 raised and 2,816 coats collected to help individuals and families stay warm, safe, and supported during the coldest months of the year.

Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, shared photos, or helped spread the word. Your kindness truly makes a difference, and we are grateful to be part of a community that shows up for its neighbors. 🙏
