According to the CDC, over 130,000 bicyclists are injured in crashes on roadways every year in the United States. Roughly 1,000 bicyclists are killed in accidents on the road every year. Between 2019 and 2023, 75 bicyclists were killed in Missouri. In 2023, 15 bicyclists died in Missouri. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), most bicycle accidents occur between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., and they occur more in urban areas versus rural ones. 61% of cyclists who were killed were not wearing a helmet.

Question: If I have an injury at work that is covered by workers' compensation, who pay for my medical treatment?

Answer: The employer or insurer is required to provide the medical treatment and care to cure and relieve the employee from the effects of the injury. This includes all costs for authorized medical treatment, prescriptions, and medical devices. There is no deductible and all costs are paid by the employer or its workers’ compensation insurance company. If you do receive a bill, contact your employer or the insurance company immediately.

The employer (or the insurer, on behalf of the employer) has the right to choose the healthcare provider or treating physician. However, the employee has the right to select a treating physician at the employee's own expense.

When driving on snow or ice covered roads, it is important to be safe.
Slow down. It’s harder to control or stop your vehicle on a slick or snow-covered surface. In fact, 2022 there were an estimated 153,620 police reported traffic crashes that occurred when there was snow/sleet conditions at the time of the crash. On the road, increase your following distance enough so that you’ll have plenty of time to stop for vehicles ahead of you.

Meet Paul Jameson: Born and raised in Springfield, Paul attended Washington University School of Law (2007) and made his way back to Springfield where he practiced disability law before joining Placzek Winget & Placzek.
