Going to court? Please dress like you’re going to court.

I know it sounds obvious, but I’ve actually witnessed judges send people home because they weren’t dressed appropriately.

Virginia tends to have a more conservative courtroom culture, and what you wear can matter more than you might think.

This is not the day for:
❌ Revealing clothing
❌ Graphic T-shirts
❌ Ripped jeans
❌ Shorts
❌ Flip-flops
❌ Anything you’d wear to the beach, club, or gym

Think professional, conservative, clean and respectful.

You don't need to spend a fortune on a suit. You just need to show the court that you understand where you are and that you take the proceeding seriously.

Because the last thing you want is to make it all the way to court… only to be told to go home and change.

You were rear-ended. So why is the insurance company asking what YOU did wrong?

Because in Virginia, even a small amount of fault can have a major impact on your ability to recover compensation.

Last week, Lisa and Jennifer spent two days at the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association's Women's Caucus conference at the stunning Lansdowne Retreat in Leesburg! It's always special to be in a room full of other female lawyers and law firm owners doing amazing things in their communities!

The sessions covered who gets heard in the courtroom, the cost of being authentic at work, and how to build firm cultures people want to stay in. Combined with the opportunity to network with other fantastic attorneys from throughout the Commonwealth, it was a great time!
