TO ALL THE COUNTY TAX ASSESSORS and State of Texas government officials, and Governor Abbott. I’M TALKING TO YOU!! This is my PERSONAL OPINION!!

Hypothetically…….. I’m being taxed on money I never made. Let that sink in.

If I bought my property outright for $60,000 in 2009 and now the county says it’s worth $246,000.
Did I sell it? No.
Did I make a profit? No.
Did I get a check for $246,000? No.
But my taxes jumped like I did.

That’s the problem.
This isn’t income.
This isn’t cash.
This is a number someone decided on paper — and now I’m being billed for it.

If my stock portfolio doubles, I don’t pay taxes until I sell.

If my income doesn’t increase, I don’t magically owe more income tax.
So why does owning a home work differently?
Why am I being taxed on unrealized gains?

A house isn’t just an investment — it’s where people live. And this system means you can do everything right, pay off your home, and still get squeezed harder every year because of a number you never turned into money.

You don’t truly own something if you can be taxed out of it.
This isn’t about “services” or “inflation.”
It’s about being charged for value you never received.

And people are starting to notice. Protest your property taxes!!!

The PUCT rules §25.58 and §25.101 will fast-track battery storage contracts and new transmission lines, raise your electricity bills, and limit your ability to protect your property.

Utilities get to pass costs PLUS profit directly to you with less public review and stronger eminent domain leverage.

The PUCT is fast-tracking battery storage and new transmission lines that will raise your electricity prices and limit your ability to fight them.

§25.58 lets utilities pass massive battery costs, plus profit, straight to your bill.
Batteries are not reliable power, they’re a short-term bandaid.

§25.101 lets them build up to 5 miles of power lines with minimal review and stronger eminent domain leverage over landowners.
Transmission lines move energy but don’t create it, and they threaten private property rights.

Tell the PUCT:
⚡️No higher rates for unproven storage.

⚡️No shortcuts on transmission lines that cross our land.

USPS Postmark Changes Could Impact Property Tax Payments

A recent change in how the U.S. Postal Service applies postmarks could create problems for Texas property taxpayers who mail payments close to the deadline. USPS now applies postmarks in regional mail sorting facitilies in the mail-sorting process rather than at initial pickup, which means a payment mailed on time could receive a later postmark date and be treated as late—triggering penalties and interest.

To avoid this risk, Texas property owners should mail payments well before the January 31, 2026 deadline or use electronic or in-person payment options when possible. If mailing a check, requesting a hand-stamped postmark or using certified mail can help protect against unexpected late fees.
