A $13.6 MILLION airport grant. A 600-acre expansion zone. Brooksville homeowners and business owners—this is a development story worth following. ✈️

Here’s what’s confirmed, and what comes next.

Hernando County’s July 28 commission record confirms a $13.6 million federal grant for the Brooksville–Tampa Bay Regional Airport Critical Construction Project. The total eligible project cost is $17 million.

📍 STATUS CHECK: OCTOBER 8, 2026

The airport’s official website says design and engineering are substantially advanced as the funded project moves toward implementation.

BKV is also marketing its 600-acre Westside Aviation Expansion Zone. Planned infrastructure includes:

▪️ Converting an inactive runway into an active taxiway
▪️ Roads, utilities, drainage, and electrical service
▪️ Access to additional sites for aviation and aerospace businesses

Businesses can begin coordinating site selection, leasing, and facility planning with the airport’s infrastructure schedule.

That doesn’t mean all 600 acres are ready to build on today—or that nearby property values automatically rise.

For Spring Hill and Brooksville property owners, the questions worth asking are: Which businesses will commit? What will actually get built? And how could surrounding activity affect the way people live and work here?

Those are the details I’m watching.

VISIT FLORIDA originally estimated 34.3 million visitors statewide during July–September 2025. That’s a reminder of how closely Florida’s visitor economy connects with the places where people work, shop, and spend.
