Last fall, Paul Weber's life changed forever when he was hit while working on the side of the road just north of Spokane. First responders saved his life, but the injuries were catastrophic. Both of Paul's legs had to be amputated.

Today, Paul is fighting his way back—learning to walk again at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Medical Center. His physical therapist says Paul is exceptionally strong, hardworking, and motivated—the same traits that made him a dedicated U.S. Marine.

Work zone safety isn’t just about traffic cones and warning signs. It’s about people.

The consequences of carelessness are very real. In an instant, someone’s future—or their life—can be taken away.

Together, the Spokane Chiefs and Sweetser Law Office are proud to honor our heroes through the Sweetser Law Office ‘Wreaths for Fallen Heroes” partnership. With the Chiefs’ playoff-clinching win on Monday in Kamloops, that is another $44 donated to help place memorial wreaths at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake in December. With 37 wins so far, Sweetser Law Office has already pledged over $1,600 this season!

Sweetser, who represents two of the Black students and the white student, told Atlanta Black Star that Mead school officials have “left these boys who experienced sexual assault to cope on their own without the supports that should have been in place for them” for more than a year now, “which makes their ongoing process of coping complicated. They could be required to testify. They’ve already been traumatized, humiliated and betrayed.”

Of his clients, he said, “One day they were just wanting to be part of a team, play sports, have a normal childhood,” and now “their high school experience has been thrown into total chaos. And for these boys to see some of the statements by the school district in an attempt to … 'cover their ass' by downplaying this incident as ‘horseplay’ or ‘boys being boys’ … it’s an ongoing betrayal. It’s a violation of their hope and trust that the adults in charge of school-sponsored programs, that they just want to participate in as kids, will do the right thing and follow the law. That’s been shattered, for them and their families.”

Sweetser Law Office donated $1,320 to Washington Fallen Hero's (Veterans Holiday Remembrance) last night November 5, 2024 at the Spokane Chiefs Hockey game.

The goal is to ensure that every veteran’s grave-site at the Medical Lake Veterans Cemetery has a fresh holiday bough this season.

The Veterans Holiday Remembrance is one way the community can come together and pay their respects in a beautiful way, honoring all those who served. There will be a public ceremony and opportunity for everyone to finish placing the boughs on Saturday, December 14, 2024.

A veterans' wreath is a symbol of HONOR, RESPECT, and VICTORY.
