In February, regulations will be announced for a new work visa dedicated to descendants of Italians.
The visa is part of the Tajani Decree, approved in March and converted into law in May 2025, which provides a facilitated entry route for descendants of Italians residing abroad, outside the regular immigration quotas.

With the new rule, descendants of Italians can obtain residence permits for dependent employment with no quota limits. And obtain Italian citizenship through facilitated naturalization after two years of legal residence in Italy.

NEW CODE FOR FAMILY REUNIFICATION

If you are a relative of an Italian citizen residing in Italy and you want to apply for family reunification, here’s what you need to know.

The Ministry has introduced a NEW code for family members of Italian citizens:
Code 34 – Residence Permit for a Family Member of an Italian Citizen

This new code replaces the previous procedure and can be obtained by anyone who is:
• the spouse of an Italian citizen
• the child of an Italian citizen
• a parent who depends on their Italian child
• already legally in Italy
