Earlier this morning President Biden designated Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) for nationals of Lebanon currently in the U.S. This action enables eligible Lebanese citizens to remain in the US for the next 18 months without fear of deportation.

Updates for the Lebanese citizens and non citizens legal residents in Lebanon.

The Interview Waiver is designed for applicants who do not need to appear at the Embassy to be fingerprinted and interviewed.

There are several main groups of applicants who may use the Interview Waiver.

These are:

Applicants who are renewing a visa in the B1/B2 category and meet all of the criteria below:
The previous visa expired less than 24 months ago;
The applicant is renewing a visa in the same visa classification as the previous one;
The applicant is a Lebanese national or long-term resident in Lebanon;
If the applicant has ever been refused a visa, it was for the same visa class for which they are currently applying, and they were subsequently issued that class of visa;
The previous visa was not cancelled or revoked;
The previous visa was not lost or stolen;
The applicant has complied with the immigration laws and regulations of the United States during previous visits
and
Renewal applicants 50 years of age and older, who are Lebanese nationals or legal residents in Lebanon.

Applicants who are 80 years of age and older are exempt from the interview and having a prior visa is not required.

Wait times are escalating despite the fact that policy is moving in the right direction.
The House has proposed spending hundreds of millions of dollars to address delays at USCIS, which have harmed immigrant workers as well as employers that depend on them during the ongoing labor shortage.
Because congressional offices have access to special channels and direct contacts at USCIS, their intervention is much needed.
