HOT OFF THE PRESS:

Congratulations to Attorney Reed Outlaw for winning an appeal of a Department of Child Services (DCS) substantiated finding of neglect. The issue was a complicated and technical one in which the DCS determined neglect based on an infant's umbilical cord testing positive for an illegal drug while in the hospital. Attorney Reed Outlaw questioned the DCS’s investigation and investigator, the taking of the blood sample from the hospital, and the chain of custody of the blood sampling. Ultimately, Attorney Reed Outlaw was able to get the medical expert to testify that there was a likely sample contamination based on the levels of the metabolite and illegal drug in the blood cord. As a result, it has been recommended by the Administrative Law Judge that the DCS finding be reversed, and that her client's DCS record be EXPUNGED!!! The client may now pursue jobs in the child care industry, which is a passion of hers.
