A graduate of Fordham University School of Law’s Evening Division, he earned his law degree while serving full-time as a New York State Court Officer — a testament to his discipline, resilience, and commitment to public service. He also holds
a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from John Jay College, graduating cm laude, and a PostBaccalaureate Certificate in Business from Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies. His academic and professional background in banking, real estate, and law gives him a unique perspective on the financial and legal issues that shape the lives of both families and entrepreneurs. Jermel began his legal career at a prominent international law firm, gaining experience in complex commercial real estate and finance matters. Prior to practicing law, he spent more than a decade in financial services and real estate — including roles as a Private Client Banker at JPMorgan Chase, a Business Banking Relationship Manager at Citizens Bank, and a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Douglas Elliman. This diverse experience allows him to blend strategic business insight with practical, client-focused legal solutions. He is also committed to community service, having supported youth mentorship and
development through the Fiver Children’s Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Jermel is a proud husband to his wife, Vanessa, and father to his daughters, Leila and Alaia. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, boating, and spending time outdoors — and he’s an avid sports fan, proudly cheering for the Yankees, Knicks, and Jets.
