MVA’s legal challenge has received support from the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA).

On September 30, NOVA filed a friend-of-the-court brief supporting Military-Veterans Advocacy and the Law Office of John B. Wells in the Fifth Circuit case, Military-Veterans Advocacy v. Murrill.

NOVA argues that federal law should exclusively govern veterans’ benefits representation. Its brief explains how conflicting state requirements can burden accredited advocates and limit veterans’ access to qualified representation.

We appreciate NOVA’s support as we continue working to protect veterans’ rights and their access to the assistance they deserve.

Help us advocate for veterans benefits in DC!

AFGE Local 17 reports that, in a survey of 311 Board of Veterans’ Appeals attorneys, 93% said production standards did not provide enough time for meaningful review. The union is asking Congress to request an independent Government Accountability Office review of those standards.

These concerns deserve attention. Reducing the backlog matters, but so does ensuring veterans receive fair, accurate decisions.
