Just some quick reminders:

I do not notarize anything if all parties are not present! Buyers and sellers MUST be together for me to do auto titles, etc. There are no exceptions; this is a policy of my notary business.

Notaries are prohibited from providing any legal advice, including which forms are needed, verifying the "legal correctness" of a self-drafted document, or providing notary certificates (you must know or possess the accurate document for the notary to sign). I assume no liability for mistakes made in documents not drafted by me.

If you are unsure about the document you need or how to correctly self-make one here's what to do:

- Contact a lawyer for wills, trusts, divorces, contracts, property transfers, etc.

- Contact the DMV if you need assistance with DMV paperwork.

- Contact Wildlife & Fisheries for assistance with boat paperwork.

- Contact the Clerk of Court for filing requirements for property sales/purchases/donations, divorces, etc.

>>> Within 20 miles of 70777, 1 document to be notarized/stamped >>> $40

>>> $1 per mile beyond 20 miles of 70777 (example: you are 21 miles from 70777 and need a title and bill of sale. The rate is $41)

>>> $10 per stamp beyond 1 stamp (for example, you need 2 documents notarized and you are within 20 miles of 70777. The rate is $50) >>> THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS TITLES + BILLS OF SALE. I GROUP THOSE TOGETHER. EXAMPLE: TITLE + BILL OF SALE WITHIN 20 MILES. YOUR RATE IS $40.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

>>> If your document requires witnesses, you do need witnesses there when the notary arrives. If you cannot find a witness, I do have the limited ability to provide a witness at $20 per witness. You must confirm this when you schedule your appointment.

>>> For documents requiring multiple parties to sign, ALL parties must be present before the notary.

>>> This applies to titles and bills of sale. The owner(s) appearing on the title and the buyer should be present. While I'm aware of situations in which not all parties must be present, I do NOT do these.

>>> All parties must have photo IDs.

I've had a number of inquiries lately regarding titles. Specifically, people are asking if I can notarize titles and bills of sale where only 1 party is present. While I'm aware of some situations in which this is acceptable, my policy is that BOTH BUYER AND THE OWNER(S) APPEARING ON THE TITLE MUST BOTH BE PRESENT WITH IDS TO SIGN THE TITLE AND BILL OF SALE OR ACT OF DONATION. These are the only title situations that I'm assisting with. Thank you!! 😊

Today, I went to do some notary work for a bedbound inmate who is currently housed at a medical facility near me. It's a very complex situation - he doesn't speak English, and a translator was used. Upon my arrival, I asked for an I.D. This man disclosed he'd never had a photo I.D. I couldn't do the notarization. Other arrangements are now being made. The facility he was in was wonderful, and he was very well cared for, in what are likely his last days, without prejudice of his past. I asked one of the employees how he liked working there, and he replied with a smile that he loved it. It was an eye opening experience I'll never forget.
